4 .10 gears

That’s an unusual thing to point out unless it’s been swapped from whatever the truck originally had. Which raises more questions. Does it have Posi ? Gov-bomb? Does the speedometer read correctly? Does the odometer read correctly? How many miles are really on it?

But ... why ? Short bed, short cab, not very useful to carry either living or dead things, The 4.8 is a good engine but a bit less punchy than its bigger brother, and a manual trans is greast in principle, but that’s a truck, not a canyon carver ... Shop Teacher ? Think about it ?

They are better vehicles, I just don’t like the look of them.  My mom had one for like... 15 years (bought a 2000 new) and loved it.  Never had any major issues.

Stick shift is fun, and better for Rallycross. Regular cab is plenty for my daily commute, because now that my wife is home, nobody uses the back seat during the week. The short bed is plenty long to haul my scooters with the tailgate closed, and makes it easier to park. My ‘06 Sierra crew cab (which I would not be getting rid of) has a 4.8 and 3.20:1 rear end, and it does the job just fine. This truck is lighter, and has the 4.10:1 rear end, so it should be a fair bit quicker. Also, the manual trans wasn't available with the 5.3.

They were available with a 4.10, I believe, but yes, all of those issues would need to be verified.

I daily drive a regular cab/short bed truck. My two daily drivers before it were a corvette and a miata, and I couldn’t come up with any legitimate reason why I needed more than two seats in a truck. If I have offspring someday in the future, I’d need a backseat. Until then...

!!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!!

Even with the shell, think of it as a six foot long trunk that’s four feet tall inside with the option of longer things hanging out the back when needed. It hauls a lot of stuff inside. For really big things, I’ve got a trailer anyway.

We almost bought an 04 Silverado years back. It was special ordered with a 6.0/manual combo in a reg cab/short bed 2wd with very few “options”.

Holy hell was that a fun truck, should have bought it, but we decided that a manual regular cab didn’t work too well with a rear facing car seat.....

In all reality, I just used that as an excuse not to buy it. I knew damn well I wouldn’t be able to afford to keep tires on it and fix all the stuff I was breaking from having too much fun.

It was not!

It was a 1500. Not sure how the PO ended up with it like it was.

Kinja'd!!!1

Wait, what? That’s not even supposed to exist! The manual 1500 was only supposed to be available with the 4.3 or the 4.8. The original owner obviously checked the VortecMax option box, but I’m not sure how he sweet talked GM into putting a manual trans behind it.

Man, for a truck like that, I'd live with the ugly angry eyes front end.

I know, that’s why I was so interested in it. Wondering now if it wasn’t the result of buying a 4.3/5-speed truck and having a wrecked 6.0/5-speed truck laying around or something like that. Although I supposed if one has enough funds, a manufacturer will build whatever you want.

I was trolling you. That would be a fun truck to drive.

I just bought a Mazda 3 with a manual and they did a really good job putting that shifter together. Great fun to drive and it goes 85 mph all day long without seeming to work hard at all. Highway car, for certain. And pretty comfortable, too. Ride is a bit harsh, and too much road noise for my liking, but I replaced the stock paper cone piece-of-crap speakers and the radio is much easier to hear now because tweeters. Very happy with that car.

Definitely not. It was a 6.0. If you decided not to control your throttle inputs, the 1st 3 gears were pretty much useless....
